Illegal immigration poses a significant challenge to our community, straining our resources and compromising the quality of life for our citizens. As a candidate for State Senate, I stand firmly against the policies promoted by the Healey administration and my opponent, Joan Lovely, that enable and encourage illegal immigration. These policies flood our schools with non-English-speaking students, overwhelming our teachers, increasing class sizes, and reducing the quality of education for our children. Our schools should be centers of learning and opportunity, not burdened by the unchecked influx of illegal immigrants.
Moreover, illegal immigration exacerbates our housing crisis. With over a million illegal immigrants in Massachusetts, our veterans and seniors—who have contributed to our society and deserve our support—are left waiting years for housing, while our homeless veterans are left on the streets. This is unacceptable. Illegal immigrants also place an undue burden on our healthcare system, clogging our hospitals and consuming resources that should be available to hardworking citizens and legal residents. More than half of all hospital visits are related to illegal immigration, pushing those who have paid into the system their entire lives to the end of the line for services and care.
Illegal immigration is the most significant issue in this race and our future because it affects every aspect of our quality of life. It drives up housing costs, inflates food prices, and strains our education and healthcare systems. It impacts our businesses by creating unfair competition and undermining wages. Welfare programs, designed to assist our most vulnerable citizens, are stretched thin by the increasing demands placed on them by illegal immigrants. Every aspect of our community suffers when illegal immigration is not addressed effectively.
In the Senate, I will take on the challenges of enforcing immigration laws and ensuring that taxpayer-funded services are reserved for citizens and legal residents. I will oppose the reckless and irresponsible immigration policies of Joan Lovely and the Healey administration and work tirelessly to protect the interests of our community. It is time to take a stand for the rule of law, for our veterans and seniors, and for the future of our children. By prioritizing this critical issue, we can safeguard the quality of life for all residents of Massachusetts.
