As your candidate for State Senator in the 2nd Essex District, I am committed to restoring the integrity and quality of our educational system. Our district's cities and towns—Danvers, Peabody, Salem, and Beverly—deserve schools that prioritize fundamental learning and prepare our children for the future without succumbing to harmful ideologies.
Our education system should be a beacon of excellence, focused on the core subjects that have stood the test of time: reading, writing, and arithmetic. Unfortunately, today's schools are straying from these pillars, influenced by trends that prioritize social engineering over academic achievement. This shift has led to a decline in educational standards, as evidenced by the increasing emphasis on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs. These initiatives often serve to divide rather than unite our students, distracting from the primary goal of education
.
I stand firmly against the integration of DEI and transgender ideologies in our schools, including initiatives such as Trans Story Hour in our libraries. Such ideologies not only confuse our children but also detract from essential learning. Education should be about equipping students with critical thinking skills and a strong foundation in traditional subjects, not about pushing contemporary social agendas.
We must return to the basics. Our children should be taught in the same manner that has successfully educated generations before them. This means emphasizing phonics in reading, mastery of arithmetic, and clear, structured writing. The so-called "new math" and other experimental curricula have failed our students, leaving them ill-prepared for higher education and the workforce. By reverting to proven, traditional teaching methods, we can ensure our children receive the education they deserve.
As your State Senator, I will work tirelessly to implement these changes. I will advocate for legislation that removes DEI programs from our schools and reinstates a curriculum centered on traditional academic subjects. Our district's future depends on an educated, capable youth. Together, we can restore the quality of our education system and ensure our children are prepared to lead successful, fulfilling lives. Vote for me, Damian Anketell, and let’s take a stand for the future of our children and our community.
